MEET THE TEAM
PAULINA
I have always felt a profound spiritual connection to nature. As a child I remember my curious urge to explore landscapes. I would often gather wildflowers and arrange them into bouquets. This childlike sense of wonderment has survived adulthood. I continue to be a sentimental collector of natures many treasures. Every beach outing is a voyage, a quest for buried treasure and an opportunity to transform nature into my very own creation.
Nature has always been the perennial source of my creative inspiration. My approach to floral design is directly inspired by the beautiful, colourful, complex formations in nature.
My interest in flowers and floral design began blossoming in my twenties and quickly grew into a deep passion. I would often day-dream of having a little shop of my own. I envisioned the glistering sign and homey decor. I pictured the window displays bringing vibrancy to the streetscape and a sense of joy to the pedestrians walking by. I imagined myself performing tiny miracles for the habitually absent-minded husband who forgot his anniversary or the impulsive young man looking for a bouquet to match his proposal, then seeing the expression on a brides face when I present her with her wedding flowers. I received my certification from the Canadian Institute of Floral Design in Toronto, worked while continuing to learn for several years in the floral industry, and finally, after all this time dreaming, I’ve decided to turn my vision into reality.
Paulina’s Flower Shoppe is a Flower and Art space, as well as an extension of my very soul.
I believe that flowers have the undeniable power to extinguish tension, hostility, anxiety and even pain. One cannot walk through a meadow and breath the smells and see the beautiful, vibrant colours and not feel the calm and tranquility of nature. Therefore, it is my hope that Paulina’s Flower Shoppe can be the meadow that inspires and brings tranquility and joy to all those who enter.
ALEKSANDRA “BABI”
I remember the first time I heard the term “it takes a village” used in a small-business context—how we simply cannot do it all alone. As I was preparing to open the doors to this beautiful flower shoppe, I of course had the support of my family and friends. My husband, who continues to go above and beyond to ensure the growth and stability of this business. My sisters, who stood by my side as the dream was becoming reality. The many family members and friends whose eyes filled with excitement and hearts filled with joy as they watched it all unfold—helping with painting, laying floor, breaking down walls, unpacking, moving furniture, and everything else that comes along with opening a small business.
But nobody has helped me more than my mom. My sweet mama, who will forever hold the title of the most valuable person of Paulina’s Flower Shoppe. The person who stayed by my side until 3 a.m. the night before a wedding, keeping me company when I was feeling weary and my hands could hardly hold onto the bouquets.
We would turn the tunes up—often ABBA, one of our favourites—and she would begin to move her hips and put her hands together in song, the way only she could. I will forever see her that way in the back of my shoppe: just me, her, the flowers, ABBA, and a burning desire to make this small little business of mine a success.
Her enthusiasm and infectious energy kept me going on so many occasions. Busy event weekends, holidays—even Mother’s Day, which should have belonged entirely to celebrating her—she would be by my side, helping any way she could to make those strenuous days easier. She was the one who watered the plants weekly, a task that myself or my staff never had to think about because she had it mastered.
I cannot begin to count the number of roses she dethorned, how many vases she washed, or buckets she stacked. The many times she would see the flower truck pull into the shoppe, and she’d arrive a few minutes after it left to process the new flowers that had come in. The number of boxes she unpacked and helped price. The million times she swept the stems off the floor. Never asking for anything in return.
You see, help like hers could never be hired. It could never be matched or replaced, because her help came from a place of deep love—love only a mother could have while watching her baby live out her passion.
These days, she is with me only in spirit, as I endured the unimaginable in having to say goodbye to her earlier this year. I am forever grateful for her unwavering support, her unconditional love, and her belief in this dream.
This shoppe is as much yours as it is mine, my sweet mama.
Thank you for believing in this with me
BOBBY
Meet Bobby!
The day I met him, I had no idea that my entire world would be enhanced by having this man enter not just my shoppe life, but my LIFE. Going on three years of bringing his magic to Paulina’s Flower Shoppe, Bobby is as artistically talented with flowers as he is with his wardrobe. Whether you’ve met him in person or spoken to him over the phone, there is no denying his spark. He is truly one of a kind, and his floral design reflects just that.
From the early age of 15, Bobby began his interest in the floral industry as a co-op student. He was later hired and trained as a designer by the same shop where he completed that co-op placement. He attended Niagara College for Horticulture and Landscaping, where he also received his official certificate in floral design. He has been building on his passion for this incredible industry for nearly 20 years!
His work is unmatched, and I feel so incredibly privileged to be working alongside him. His empathy is what makes him shine as a designer. His ability to connect with a customer’s story and translate it into a floral creation is one of the many things that make him exceptional. His hand-tied bouquets are among our customers’ favourites.
Big heart, big shoes, and massive flair—Bobby has brought so much to this little shoppe, both through his talent and his personality. If you know him, you love him. It’s as simple as that.
TAYLER
Meet Tayler!
T, T-Bird, Tay Tay…Her nicknames are plentiful, much like her personality!
Tayler grew up observing her mom working in a flower shop, which inspired her to explore the floral industry for herself. She entered the world of flowers in 2014 and has been working in it ever since.
Tayler has been a part of the Paulina’s Flower Shoppe family since 2019, and we are so lucky to have her. She is our main girl, always ready to assist with a smile. If you’ve placed a phone order, you were most likely chatting with her. Visit the shoppe, and she’s the first to greet you!
Not only does she know her way around a flower shoppe, you may also recognize this gem as one of Sarnia’s local theatre stars — sweeping audiences away with her big, bright, charismatic character on stage! We at the flower shoppe are fortunate enough to have her serenading us on a regular basis.
T brings so much to the flower-family table. Her wit and her charm are the most appetizing, and she keeps us laughing steady. If you’ve purchased a succulent garden from us, she likely made it. A hand-tied bouquet? It could very well be one of her creations. She is neat, organized, and keeps us well stocked and prepped!
You’ll know her when you see her — she’ll be the one with the most energy in the room.
And no, she’s not acting… that’s just our T!
KUBA
Meet our Kubey!
The friendliest and most helpful flower delivery driver! If the flowers don’t brighten your day enough, Kuba surely will with his charismatic personality. Even if your encounter with him is brief at the door, his smile always leaves an impact.
I remember one day a sweet elderly lady called the shoppe after receiving her flowers to tell me how much she adored and appreciated our driver. Kuba not only delivered her arrangement with a smile, but he also assisted this vulnerable customer by bringing the flowers inside, unpacking them, placing them on her table, and helping her read her card. She was so touched by his extra effort and attention that she felt compelled to call us and share just how wonderful he is.
Another time, a customer let us know that her outdoor planter had blown over in the wind. Without hesitation, Kuba went out of his way to pick it up and place it back exactly where it belonged.
That’s our Kuba — always thoughtful, always smiling, and always with beautiful flowers in his hands.
We are honoured to serve Sarnia-Lambton and the surrounding areas
Thank you for trusting us to deliver beauty with care, in all its many forms.
